Nokia Warning To Manufacturer Agreement With Google Android, Motorola
Handset manufacturers that use Google’s Android software should be concerned about the agreement of the Internet search leader to buy Motorola Mobility, said Wednesday chief executive of rival Nokia.
Nokia has partnered with Microsoft, Google eternal enemy, to use its software for mobile phones, while manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics, HTC and Motorola have opted for Android.
Google’s plan to buy Motorola for U.S. $ 12,500 million has raised concerns among some analysts about whether Motorola would get preferential treatment compared to rivals like Samsung and HTC.
“If I were a manufacturer or an operator with Android, or anyone with an interest in this area would take the phone and calling some Google executives to say ‘I see some danger,’” said Nokia CEO Stephen Elope at a seminar in Helsinki.
As for Nokia, Elope seemed to suggest that Google’s decision reinforced the logic of the company’s agreement with Microsoft finlandense.
“The first reaction I had was very clearly now becomes more evident the importance of the third ecosystem and the importance of the alliance announced on 11 February,” said Elope.
He added that since the February deal was announced with Microsoft, there are now between 25,000 and 30,000 applications for the next platform.
Before Elope was named chief executive of Nokia, was president of the Microsoft business division.
Cellular network by Points Open Source
Although it has been emphasized in recent years to open source projects or open source, especially as far as software is concerned, there is a sector where development has been emphasized in this type of open source projects, that would benefit both developers and users to significantly reduce certain costs, and I mean projects cellular networks.
It may be hard to imagine an open source network, that would provide good services and low costs, which was convenient for everyone, but for 3 years, engineers and David A. Samar Harbinger Burgess found developing a system of open source with these characteristics, which have called Points and has been a year as a serious solution in the market, in fact the island of Niue has implemented last year as a cellular network Points urgent , which later gave way to a more advanced fourth generation, i.e. to implement Points served in the first cell phone.
Points operating systems based on UNIX, and works with open source software like Asterisk PBX. In theory allow anyone who so desires to implement its own cellular network (GSM is also possible with CDMA but it complicates the process), and the user cost would be about $ 1 a month (taking into account the maintenance of the Cooperating Points and other costs), and plans used to implement wireless networks in rural areas, still cheaper than fiber optics and LTE networks.
